Wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought I would let my fellow MINI owners know that I lost my MINI of four years in a head on collision today. I was driving home when a lady driving a bigger car crossed the center line and hit me head on. Luckily, I had started to brake before the impact and the fact she was only going about 30 mph lessened the severity. The front end of my MINI was crushed in. The air bag and seat belt did it's job and I only suffered minor cuts and bruises. I know I haven't been a member for a while, but I just want to say Thank You for letting me be a member of your club in the past and experience the joy of owning and driving the greatest ride on Earth. Maybe someday I will own another MINI. Keep Motoring my Friends and be safe...

Brian, sorry to hear about the loss of your MINI but glad to hear you got out with only minor issues. Hope to see you back in the MINI community some time in the future.

Thanks glmini. I really enjoyed my car. She was the first car I had ever purchased that was new. It was a wonderful experience. Listening to the horn blaring and then slowly dying off was like listening to the soul of my car leaving. I actually cried that night after recalling it. The ladies insurance company wants transport my car to Indy to do a thorough inspection on it to see if it can be rebuilt. But with the damage that my friend and I have seen, I doubt it is possible. It will take a new motor, drive train, radiators, turbo, dog house, etc. just to make it possible. In other words, more money than the car was worth... I know that there is hidden damage inside of the car as well. As of today, I am still sore from the impact body wise. I didn't realize it until my friend pointed it out, but I had actually broke the left side of the steering wheel during the impact. That explains why my left hand, wrist and arm are still hurting a little. I guess I had really tensed up before the impact happened... I also have a nasty bruise on my chest from the seat belt as well. I guess time will heal me physically and emotionally as well... Brian C.

I know that sore feeling well. When I totaled mine in September I was sore for a month from the seat belt. But it beats not having it on. Don't let them beat you up on price when they figure it's totaled. It will make a good down payment on a new one. I got almost half of what I paid for mine new and it was nine years old.

Thanks for the input everyone. It's pretty much the same thing that everyone here has been saying as well. I'm still a little sore today still, but my body is recovering faster than I thought it would... As for letting them walk all over me when it comes to the totaled out offer, I will not not let them do so. Their client destroyed a perfectly maintained and cared for car through her negligence. As far as I'm concerned, they owe me a new MINI and need to pay off the one she destroyed. I may sound greedy I suppose, but I didn't ask for her to hit me while she was looking for a cell phone that wasn't even in the car... As for them coming to get my car and then taking it to Indy, I guess Progressive has a shop in town that will do a 6 point inspection to see if the car can be rebuilt or is a total loss. I don't feel real comfortable with them doing it, but as the car sits now, she is useless to me. All one has to to is look and see that it can be rebuilt... especially under the bonnet... and seeing the broken motor mounts... I will keep you up to date as things progress...
