Hello, I'm Doug, a new MINI owner, living in Greenwood. I picked up my Cooper S, in British Racing Green with sport stripes about five days ago from the dealership in Cincy.
My Cooper is everything I'd hoped it would be. It's very fun to drive, attracts attention, and get's great gas milage.
I was excited to complete my first "wave" at another MINI driver today on the way home from work. She was (attractive and) driving a blue ragtop at the intersection of Hwy-37 and Smith Valley Road.
I don't have any plans on adding any hop-ups to my MINI, just a few customizations on the interior and exterior styling - little union jacks here and there.
I'm having a lot of fun.

Why didn't you buy from the Indy dealer? Why Cincy? I got the same car, for the same price, but Cincy threw in a small hand full of free stuff that Indy wouldn't. The drive to the Indy dealership is 45 minutes to an hour with traffic. Drive to Cincy is two hours.

Here's a belated welcome! I'm also in Greenwood and driving an older BRG MCS (built the first week possible in that color in Sept '02). Mine is more than a touch modified, and will be lower and louder than it came, and of course I'll wave if I see you.

So you'd drive more than twice the distance and send your tax money out of state for that small of a price difference? You also missed out on the free Saturday carwashes for as long as you own your MINI (that you could have gotten at the Greenwood D&R BMW dealer). Does this mean you'll also be going to Cincy for service?

I think I might have seen you near the mall. I've also seen a BRG Mini with a black roof near Meijer on Hwy 135.

You also missed out on the free Saturday carwashes for as long as you own your MINI (that you could have gotten at the Greenwood D&R BMW dealer). Does this mean you'll also be going to Cincy for service? I was surprised actually. Although I was buying the car in Ohio, because I was getting it plated in Indiana I paid Indiana sales tax, which was paid to the state of Indiana by the state of Ohio. That's what I was told in the dealership, and it's all written out on the paperwork I got with my Indiana plates last week. With respect to the car washes.... I live on the far west side of Greenwood, and rarely drive east of Hwy-135. I'm not going to drive 20 minutes each way to D&R in Greenwood on a Saturday for a free car wash....let alone drive to the north side of town for a free car wash. I've got much better things to do with my time. My kids and I have washed the car in the drive a few times. It's a fun thing to do with the kids on a hot summer day. Spraying each other and joking around is fun. As far as service goes..... I can get the warranty service done in Cincy or D&R in Indy. D&R won't deny me service just because I didn't buy the car there..... I'm sure corporate MINI would have something to say about that. In all honesty though, my wife has family in Cincy, and I'm going to try to coordinate the normal services so that I can get them done in Cincy. Two birds with one stone. D&R has a hottie that greets you at the door, and the sales guys are friendly enough, but I didn't appreciate having to wait 25 minutes to talk to the sales guy I had made an appointment with a few days earlier. The sales guy I was talking with came off with just a touch of attitude.... hard to explain. It was like the D&R sales guy was selling D&R...not MINI. The sales woman in Cincy was selling MINI...not the dealership. The sales woman in Cincy was great to work with, she had a great attitude, and was willing to wheel and deal a little bit. To each his own... Let's Motor!

My experience was just the opposite. Cincy wasn't willing to entertain ANY special offers, but D&R were willing to sweeten the deal enough to make it worthwhile.
Everyone I dealt with @ D&R, from sales to the sales mgr to financing, to the greeters, have been awesome. During the production process, any time I had a question/concern my MA was always timely in responding to my emails... When my MINI had arrived at the dealership, they sped it through the prep process so that I could have it in time for a trip. Yes, depending on what time you show up they can be busy but much of that is out of their control. There's nothing they can do if they have an appt w/ someone, but they get caught up with a walk-in. Were most of your interactions with Cincy over email/phone?
With regard to the guy selling D&R as opposed to selling MINI... Lets be honest, most people who are stepping foot in a MINI dealership are already "sold" on MINI. At that point, its a matter of who you are going to buy from...
Nonetheless, congrats on your MINI!!
Lets Motor!

Hi! I am in Greenwood as well. I have a 2009 White ragtop. It seems like there are several on the southside now. Hope you have as much fun with yours as I do. Be sure and wave.

Welcome to both new MINI owners. Hope you join us for our club activities. We try to have a lot of fun and great drives in out MINIS.
Beware just dressing up your MINI a little, you can get carried away and end up with a more than a little modded MINI like some of us have done. It gets to be so much fun to see what you can do to it.
I hope to see you both at outings or gatherings. If I see you on the road you can count on a wave.

Don't forget that the MINI July Gathering is Monday, July 12 at Shallo's in Greenwood at 7:00 PM. It is also the election of officers for the next year. Try to attend.
