Sixteen months as a Mini Owner, and I've hit the 36k mile, out of warranty phase.
It's been in the shop, under warranty:
Twice for annoying tach vibration (first time, no parts on the shelf) Twice for the Cold Rattle start problem Once for a "programming" problem, the windows were acting all funny Twice due to a key fob losing it's memory One oil change under warranty One oil change that I paid for
I get this card in the mail from D&R, saying that I can extend my warranty to 6 years or 100k miles. No price given, but I think it's somewhere in the $4k range, I'll bet.
I paid for extended warranty on my 1993 Ford Ranger a long time ago, never used it. Never needed too.
Any advice?

Well all I can say about extended warranties is that it is a gamble, and the house always wins. For some people they more than pay for themselves, but more will never see the money spent.
But I would bring up that you are not out of warranty yet, your out of the service plan, the regular warranty goes at 4 years/50,000 miles.

I think the extended Maintenance is under $2k. Not sure what the extended Warranty cost is, but think it is in the same area.

Sorry but $2K buys a lot of oil and filters, so we never got the extended maintenance.....
As for the other extended warranty (6 yr, 100,000 mi), it would have paid for itself on our 03 MC as the tranny went out if it is indeed around the $2K price. The 06 hasn't had any problems worth that kind of money (so far anyway).
Tbasil is right, it's a crap shoot! Also it depends on how fond you are of driving to the northeast side to have the work done.

I need to look this up.... Hey,,,, it is 4 years and 50k. I feel like an idiot now...
