Starting at Noon on Friday the 25th it is time to immerse yourself in MINI Culture. We will drive up to Chicago to participate in the owner's only party that night, then we will head over to the Lincoln Park Zoo for the MTTS Rally to Elkhart Lake, WI and a two day festival celebrating MINI! ;D For more details about the event check out the blog MINUSA set up for MINI Takes The States Make sure to register so you can get your goodie bag. A number of us are spending Friday night in the Woodfield area (the LaQuinta or Homewood Suites) and Saturday Night at the Hampton Inn in West Bend, WI.

I'll be spending that friday night at home about an hour south of Chicago. I'll meet up for the drive out from the zoo. After that I still haven't made lodging plans. I may have a co-pilot in either a friend from the Indy area (non owner) or my nephew (also not an owner) or simply by myself

Both Chicago hotels are in Schaumberg (which is a lot closer than Milwaulkee). Northwest burbs spitting distance from Woodfield Mall and Patrick MINI. That's about all that was posted- unfortunately everything in the old forums has been lost.
For the drive up we will be meeting at Dreyer & Reinbold at noon and leaving around 12:30 (which translates to once we are bored of waiting and it is close to 12:30 we leave).

We'll going to be going up a little later on Friday afternoon (2-3ish) if anybody wants to join us. We'll be leaving from D&R most likely. We won't be staying the night, so we'll be driving back after the festivities on Friday night. Drop me an email, PM or post if you want to join us.

The plan is fairly simple... Meet at noon at Dreyer & Reinbold MINI. Plan to have a snack prior as our next stop will be at Fair Oaks Farms for a bite to eat. Fair Oaks Farms has been featured on the Discovery Channel's- Dirty Jobs and while some of us have already enjoyed touring a dairy farm, tours are available. I'm going for the grilled cheese sandwich. After Fair Oaks (and photos of a cow on top of our MINIs) we will stop at Abanese Confectionery for some fresh Indiana gummi bears. Then it is up to Cabella's for a quick stop and then into Chicago. We will have tolls and parking figured out sooner to the date, but thought you would like to have a brief overview.

The summer solstice has just passed and you are getting ready for the dog days of summer. Relief is on the way with the ultra cool summer event right around the corner. Fresh off two successful weekends in Miami and Boston this wild event is heading your way. We’re making the next stop even fresher with exciting new additions; including the chance to be one of the first in North America to test drive the John Cooper Works MINI 2009 edition. Top that off with a turn on the track in the MINI Go-Kart adventure or a spin in a 2008 MINI Clubman. With racing in our blood we've picked the perfect spot with Road America for our festival weekend. If that's not enough then bring a blanket and hang out for Blues Traveler on the Rolling Stone music stage for an amazing concert on Saturday night. Plus we've got some more surprise and delights up our sleeves to maximize your festival experience. Stay tuned and make sure you are signed up for MTTS updates. The driving is going to be fun and the music will be blaring. It really will feel like summer out there. A pure bulldog summer. For all the latest festival news, to sign up for MTTS updates and to view highlights from MINI Takes the States Miami and Boston just visit www.minitakesthestates.com.

I looks like MINIUSA is listening to suggestions here is what Motoringfile has to report for MTTS:Chicago- Hmm... we may need to hang around on Sunday after all.
After quite a bit of feedback from attendees at both MTTS Miami and Boston, MINIUSA will be making a few minor changes to the Chicago and LA events.
They are still working on LA, but for Chicago, the Sunday events will be trimmed down at Road America. The early word is that the party will head back down to the Chicago area mid day on Sunday for a wrap up and a pleasant surprise at our good friends Ridemakerz. That will still allow plenty of time Sunday morning for you to get some seat time in the Factory JCW MINI at Road America! In addition, for those Chicago-landers who couldn’t make it up to Road America, this will, potentially, allow another local opportunity to get in on the fun.
You already knew about the Factory JCW MINIs being available to drive, right? MINIUSA felt bad that Rauno was not going to make all 4 MTTS venue’s, so Chicago and LA will have a limited number of these special MINIs available to you to drive. Win win in my book.
All the exact details are still in development, and of course subject to change, so keep an eye on the MTTS blog for official updates as they happen, which of course we will be posting the minute all of the details come down the pipe.

Took yesterday to run the route (and geocache a little) should have the basics outlined and posted soon- Working on a school Mac right now- mine isn't feeling too well (must have been something it ate- then again it is over 4 years old- that's 110 in laptop years). Should be a lot of fun, scenic, and leisurely with opportunities for people to join up a couple places.
